William Clyde Iorg, 91, passed away on August 25th, 2017, in Springfield, Missouri, after losing his battle with cancer. He was born September 17, 1925, the youngest of three children born to William (Bill) Iorg and Dora Walker Iorg. He attended Ava High School, but left school during his senior year to join the Army in 1943, during WWII. He served in the Army Air Corps, as an aerial (nose) gunner in a B-24 bomber, in the Pacific theater, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. He completed his education after being honorably discharged from the Army.
After WWII, Clyde settled in California, and in 1951, he was united in marriage to Betty Jo Kerr, and to this union four sons were born. William Charles (Chuck) Iorg, Brian James Iorg, John Edgar Iorg, and Joseph Richard Iorg. In 2008, William married Doris Batzel.
Clyde was a very interesting and dynamic person. He worked many varied jobs including driving tanker trucks, hauling new cars from Montana and Idaho railheads, up and down the West Coast, to working in the explosives laboratory as an explosives technician, at Sandia Laboratories in New Mexico, where he retired. He traveled extensively, living in many states including Alaska, California, Florida, New Mexico, Texas, and coming full circle, back to Missouri. He loved his airplanes, and completed one of the first Vans RV-4 homebuilt aircraft and flew it often for many years. He owned and flew an Aeronca Chief, and several Cessna aircraft throughout his lifetime.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty Jo Iorg, sons, Brian and John Iorg, sisters, Mable McHaffie (Virgil), Marie Cawthra (Glen), step-daughter, Carolyn Batzel Barnes, and step-sister, Doreen Shortt. He is survived by his wife, Doris Batzel Iorg, sons, William C. (Chuck) Iorg (Cheryl), and Joseph Richard Iorg (Patty), step-daughter, Marilyn Batzel Ison (Roger), grandchildren, Jennifer Sullivan (Shannon), William Christopher (Billy) Iorg, step-grandchildren, Brian Ison (Tracy), Clarindia Barnes, and Darrell Barnes. Great-grandchildren, Iris, Brianna, Peyton, and Piper Sullivan, step-great-granddaughter, Lauren Barnes, step-sister, Dortheta Stracke, niece, Glynda Linder (William), nephews Jerry Cawthra (Lea), Kenneth Cawthra (Linda), and Lori Iorg, mother of his grandchildren.

Graveside services will be September 6, 2017, at 2 P.M. at the IOOF Cemetery, Sparta, Missouri, under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, Missouri. Memorial donations may be made to the donor's choice.
