William Aloysius Conroy, age 93, of Ozark, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 13, 2014. He was born May 5, 1921 in Emington, Illinois, the son of William Edward Conroy and Mabel Elizabeth (Fraher) Conroy. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. On May 7, 1947 he and Dorothy Agnes Larkin were united in marriage.
Mr. Conroy was employed as a grain merchandiser before retirement. He lived in Illinois and in Nebraska before coming to the Ozarks. Throughout his life he was active in the Catholic Church. Mr. Conroy loved his family and spending time with them. He also enjoyed playing golf.
Survivors include: His wife of 67 years, Dorothy; three children, Dennis Conroy of Kissee Mills, Missouri, Mary Conroy of Ozark, and Dottie Conroy of Ozark; a grandchild, Rachael Conroy of Warrensburg, Missouri; a sister, Rita Kelly of Bloomington, Illinois; and a brother, Don Conroy and wife Donna of Monmouth, Illinois.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and an infant brother, Arthur.
A memorial mass will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 17, at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Ozark, with Father J. Fergus Monaghan officiating. Burial will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be 10:00 AM until service time on Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
