William "Bill" Claud Whitman

William Claud "Bill"� Whitman, age 85, of Sparta, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012. He was born May 28, 1927, in Newton County, Missouri, the son of William Clinton Whitman and Grace Bryan Wolfenbarger Whitman. Mr. Whitman was Head of Construction for Orange County, California, public schools before retirement. He and his wife, Bernice, returned to the Ozarks in 1990. Survivors include: His wife of 63 years, Agnes Bernice (Clark) Whitman; a son, King Charles Whitman, Sparta; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Alta Thomas, Sparta; a brother, Frank Whitman, Springfield; and two sisters, Clova Dean Vollan and Betty Jean Bray, both of California. Among those who preceded him in death is a daughter, Claudia Jean Scarmado. A visitation and viewing will be from 4:00 "� 5:00 PM Friday, August 10, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Private burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
