William Millard Bain

William Millard "Billy" Bain, age 76, of Springfield, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 in his home. He was born February 20, 1941 in Springfield, the son of Millard Fillmore Bain and Lena Florence (Dever) Bain. He was a 1959 graduate of Hillcrest High School where he played basketball, baseball and football. He was a National Free-throw Champion, and was accepted by the Washington Senators Baseball Team. Billy served his country in the U.S. Army, and was a Vietnam Veteran. He worked for Dayco in Springfield for several years. He was a Shriner and 32nd Degree Mason. Survivors include: Two daughters and their husbands, Khristyn and Christopher Oberlin of Springfield, and Kameryn and Josh Lambert of Ozark; five grandchildren, Jennifer Karsten, Raine Oberlin, Zoe Oberlin, Grey Oberlin, and Elaina Lambert; a brother Loy Bain of Springfield; and a close cousin, Larry Bain. A brother, Danny Bain, preceded him in death as well as his parents. A graveside funeral with full military honors will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, March 28, in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Missouri Veterans Home, Mt Vernon.
