Willa Jean Spears of Strafford, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 in her home. She was born March 24, 1947 in Springfield. Willa graduated from Hillcrest High School and received a bachelor's degree from MSU. In 1981 she and Richard Spears were married.
Willa worked as a tax accountant before retirement. She loved her family, and being a wife, mother, and grandmother was the focus of her life. Willa was a member of North Star Baptist Church in Strafford.
Survivors include: Her husband, Richard; five children, Shelley Spears of Springfield, Johnny Schmidt of Springfield, Sherry Potts and husband Chance of Nixa, Stacy Spears of Springfield, and Angie Spears of Springfield; six grandchildren, Tanner Kroutil, Reid Potts, Chloee Kroutil, Alissa Clark, Cross Potts, and Lydia Schmidt; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ed and Jean Spears of Thomasville, Alabama; a sister-in-law, Sandra Crow and husband, Larry, of Thomasville, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews.
Willa was preceded in death by a grandson, Landon Potts, a sister, Wanda Bolton, her father Dorsey Farless, and mother and step-father, Alice and Bill Wendt.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 21, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Pastor Mike Denbow officiating. Burial will follow in Delaware Cemetery, west of Nixa. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM Tuesday until service time.
