W. E. "Bill" Kissee, age 85, of Ozark, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014, in Ozark Riverview Manor. He was born January 21, 1929, in Ozark, where he continued to live throughout his life. He was the son of Willard and Nina (Stratton) Kissee. On April 17, 1949, he and Mary Elizabeth Bingham were united in marriage.
Bill was a rancher and farmer, and held many positions throughout his working career. He was also a Ozark and Hopedale community supporter. On the Ozark Square Bill owned Kissee Department Store and later Westside furniture. He co-owned Kissee-Shantz Livestock Commission Company in Springfield, and the family owns Hopedale Plaza Shopping Center. Bill served as commissioner for the Christian County Special Road District. He also served on the Ozark Board of Education, had been a member of the Ozark Booster Club and Lions Club. He was a past member of the Christian County Fair Board.
Survivors include: His wife of 65 years, Mary; three children and their spouses, Judy and Ted Chambers of Ozark, Ron and Pam Kissee of Ozark, and John and Denise Kissee of Woodstock, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Scott Kissee, Angela Figueroa, Justin Kissee, Ron Watson, Courtney Monroe, Jonathan Kissee, and Marshall Kissee; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, July 21, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Dr. Edwin Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Hopedale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home.
