Lenville Wayne Burk, age 81, of Ozark passed away Monday, March 21, 2016. He was born April 14, 1934 in Abesville, to Burnice and Eary (Cox) Burk. He left school to join the Navy. He served during the Korean War and was a driver for Admiral Wight. Wayne was a truck driver, driving various long haul trucks until he retired. Wayne attended Ponce Pentecostal Church, was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. On July 3, 1980 he married the love of his life Luana Hunt. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his two dogs, Angel and Sweetie. He enjoyed his trucks especially his "big black dually", or any truck with a big engine. Wayne loved to laugh and have fun, and was known to pull a practical joke or two. His family describes him as a loveable, sweet man.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Luana; daughter Terri Quinton, husband Mike, of Sand Springs, OK; son Lewis (Dub) Burk, of Hannibal, MO; step daughter Jackie James, husband Bill, of Republic; four grandchildren Austin Quinton, Tonya Jackson, Lance Burk, and Leslie Burk; two sisters Evelyn Sue Wilkerson, husband David, of Springfield, and Verna White, of Roswell, NM; many nieces; nephews; cousins; and friends.
Wayne is preceded in death by his siblings Verena White, Ed Burk, Harvey Burk, Waldo Burk, Edith Messenger, Rena Hathcock, Mable Henderson, Edith Kolo, Hazel Curbirth, and Cloris Herman.
There will be a memorial visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, March 28, 2016 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. There will be a memorial service at a later date.
