Wanda Hedgpeth was born January 28, 1944 to Dan and Laura Marie Stapp. Wanda passed away October 13, 2018, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
Wanda, worked at Sears Service Center, where she met her husband Wayne, of 33 years. Wanda later was the office manager at the downtown airport in Springfield. While working there, she was friends with pilot and flight instructor, John Newby. He gave her flying lessons and she finished her lessons by soloing a small airplane.
Wanda, is survived by daughters, Tammy Cook and husband Tim and Lisa Hammons and her husband James. Five grandchildren which she deeply loved, Timothy Cook, Cody Hammons, Tyler Cook, Kalee Hammons and Kalena Hammons. Two sisters, Linda West, La-Rae Chainey and husband Joe and two brothers, Danny Stapp and wife Donna and Charles Stapp and wife Jan.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, father Dan Stapp, mother Laura Marie and special step-dad Eddie Taylor. Her brothers Leroy Stapp, Jim (Leon) Stapp and Curtis Stapp.
Wanda loved her family with all her heart, she especially loved holding babies. Wanda, had a great sense of humor, she loved to laugh and to make others laugh. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Wanda's memory to the Greater Missouri Alzheimer's Association or the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
A memorial service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 20 in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday. According to her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.
