Walter Burl Dougan, age 90, of Ozark, passed away Monday, April 30, 2012, in Ozark Riverview Manor. He was born August 6, 1921, near Sparta, the son of Albert Sidney and Ollie (Johns) Dougan. Walter served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and had joined his comrades on an Ozarks Honor Flight to Washington DC in 2010. On March 20, 1945, he and Ruth Collins were united in marriage. They were faithful members of Selmore Christian Church. Walter retired from Lily tulip in 1984. He had also worked as a mechanic for Hanks and Skaggs Motor Company in Ozark. His wife, Ruth passed away in 2006. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Fred Dougan two sisters, Ella Keeling and Edith Ball, and his parents. Survivors include: A daughter, Brenda Rawlings and husband, Jim, Springfield; a son, Phillip and wife, Debbie, Ozark; six grandchildren and their spouses, Phillip Douglas Dougan and Angie, Casey Cyr and John; Alissa Mayfield and Daniel, Michelle Clark and David, Lisa Newman and Micah, and Robert Rawlings and Stacey; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 2, in Selmore Christian Church with Pastor Bud Kelley and Ken Beck officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Selmore Cemetery.
