Virginia Jo Fitzpatrick, 84, of Nixa, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at Cox South Medical Center. She was born November 10, 1928, in Marlow, Oklahoma, to Joe and Alma Callaway. She graduated from Marlow school, attended women"�s college in Chickasha, Oklahoma, and Central State College, Edmond, Oklahoma. There she met M.E. Fitzpatrick from Guthrie, Oklahoma. They were married March 2, 1948, and had four children. She served alongside her husband, who pastored churches in Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Ohio until 1987 when he retired. Because of her faith in Christ, Virginia was an active member of South Haven Baptist Church, and participated in the choir and Young In Heart. Virginia had a kind, gentle and loving spirit. She touched the hearts of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her brother Harry Wayne, her son, Jon, sisters-in-law, Rita Fitzpatrick and Gail Fitzpatrick, and a brother-in-law, Bill Fitzpatrick.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Fitz; her daughters and their husbands, Sharon and Howard Smith of Camdenton, Missouri, Janice and Michael Langford of Pierce City, Missouri, and Linda and Mike Morris of Ozark, Missouri; her grandchildren, Brandon and Nathan Smith, Ryan and Derek Langford, Sharese Morris, Chad Morris, and Dustin Strickland; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Cherie Callaway; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family members and friends. She is greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be 5:00 "� 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 26, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Thursday, June 27, in South Haven Baptist Church, Springfield, with Pastor Ryan Palmer and Dr. Michael Langford officiating. Burial will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield.
