Vernon V. Rohde of Ozark, Missouri died peacefully Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at the age of 88. Born Vernon Victor Rohde on March 11, 1925, in Mason City, Nebraska, Vernon was the second of three children born to Bertha and Frank Rohde. He came of age during the Great Depression. After graduating from Ansley High School in 1945, Vernon served in the United States Army from January 10, 1946 through February 5, 1947. On October 12, 1947 Vernon married Joyann Robbins of Miller, Nebraska. Of this union were born three children, Tom, Vick and Kim and one adopted child, Holly. Vernon and Joy raised their family on the farm north of Miller, NE., until 1981. Vernon and Joy then moved to Camdenton, MO., where they owned and operated a motel/resort. In 2001 Vernon and Joy moved to their current residence in Ozark, Missouri. Vernon always worked hard, but he played hard too. He was never one to sit still. His forms of entertainment always involved something with a wing, a wheel and an engine. He always found a way to make a family event out of his love for these activities. Vernon was proceeded in death by his parents, Frank and Bertha Rohde of Ansley, NE. A sister, Almeta Robbins of Ozark, MO., a son Victor Rohde of Ozark, MO. Vernon is survived by his wife Joyann Rohde of Ozark, MO., three children, Tom Rohde of Springfield, MO, Kim Rohde of Ozark, MO and Holly Rohde of Kansas City, KS. Vernon is also survived by one sister, Berneta Casteel of Valentine, NE. Vernon has four grandchildren, Heather Uthe of Camdenton, MO., Shelby Thomas of New Bloomfield, MO.,Pryce Rohde of Ozark, MO., and Evan Rohde of Ozark, MO. Vernon's great grandchildren are Kelly, Emma and Kasen Uthe of Camdenton, MO., and Peityn,Emory and Roen Thomas of New Bloomfield, MO. Services are planned for Saturday, August 3rd, 2013 at the Miller Community Building in Miller, NE at 10:30 AM. Internment will be at Armada Cementery, Miller, NE. Visitation will be held at Horner-Lieske Mortuary in Kearney, NE Friday August 2, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 PM. Local arrangements under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
