Ron had to get permission from his parents as he was too young. Tressie and Ron owned Manley and Sons Body Shop and Tow Service on Manley Hill, in Forsyth. Tressie helped with book keeping but was the homemaker. She also worked for Forsyth High School in the kitchen. She enjoyed working in the yard, gardening and cooking. Tressie loved animals. she enjoyed raising chickens and her dogs. If there was a stray she was sure to adopt it. Tressie found a white banty rooster roosting in a cedar tree. She climbed the tree and grabbed the chicken out of the tree. She named the chicken Lucky. Tressie also enjoyed quilting and fishing. One time, while fishing on a pontoon boat, Tressie saw some ducklings in the water next to the boat. She jumped in the water, forgetting she was afraid of the water and couldn't swim. The water was knee deep.
Ron closed the body shop in 1992 and they moved to Highlandville. Tressie went to work for Chateau on the Lake Hotel, in Branson as a house keeper.
