Captain Thomas L. Rousset, age 49, of Ozark, Missouri, passed away peacefully of a heart condition, Tuesday, March 18, 2014. He was born February 24, 1965, in Washington, Missouri, the son of Marvin and Jewel ( Henson) Rousset; He received a degree in Crimnal Justice from Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri. Thomas started his law enforcement career with the Cole County Sheriff's Department as Deputy and Canine Handler. In 1996 he joined the Ozark Police Department. He served as Reserve Officer, Patrol Officer, Patrol Supervisor, Detective, and finally as Assistant Police Chief until his death.
Thomas enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a bow enthusiast and made custom knives. Spending time with his daughter was a priority and joy to Thomas. He was a member of North Point Church, Nixa.
Survivors include: His daughter, Carissa; his parents, Marvin and Jewel Rousset; two brothers, Glenn J. Rousset and wife Margaret of Fenton, Missouri, and Timothy J. Rousset of Springfield, Missouri; a cousin, Darren Sadler of Harrison, Arkansas; and an uncle, Theodore Rousset.
Thomas was preceded in death by a brother, Jeremiah W. Rousset.
Funeral services and Police Honors will be 6:30 PM Friday, March 21, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM on Friday until the service. A graveside funeral will be 1:00 PM Saturday, March 22, in Riverview Cemetery, Jefferson City.
The Thomas L. Rousset Memorial Fund has been set up at Ozark Bank. Donations may also be made to the donor's choice.
