Thomas Edward Ligon died November 19, 2013 at the age of 22 in his hometown of Ozark. He was born July 23, 1991 in Springfield, the son of Donald W. Ligon, Sr. and Bobbie Ligon.
Thomas was an honors student and 2010 graduate of Ozark High School. He was a three sport athlete, lettering all four high school years in football, basketball and Track & Field. Upon graduation, he accepted a full-ride scholarship to Arkansas State University. As a senior nursing major, Thomas was a decathlete for the Arkansas State Red Wolves Track & Field team, a member of the Nursing Student Government Association and Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a resident assistant at Arkansas Hall for three years. On November 20, 2013, Thomas received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in memoriam from ASU School of Nursing.
Survivors include: his parents; his sister, Heather White and husband Danial; his brother, Donald W. Ligon, Jr.; his niece, Hadlee White; and three nephews, Donald W. Ligon, III, Peyton Ligon and Hayden White.
Thomas was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Thomas H. Ligon, Sr. and Alice Ligon; his maternal grandparents, Clarence Edward Dale and Billie Chapman; and his uncle, Thomas H. Ligon, Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church of Ozark, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark with Pastor Mark Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Weaver Cemetery, St. Joseph the Worker section, Ozark. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church of Ozark.
