Thomas Dennis, the youngest of two boys, was born November 14, 1928 to Vernon R. Dennis and Carrie Emma (Oxford) and was reared by both parents in the farming community of New Market, IA. His older brother Ivan predeceased him as did both parents, his wife Ann Dennis and two grandchildren, Andrew Stephen Dennis and Timothy James Solinger. He is survived by his wife Deloise Ann Camp, his three children Suzanne Williams and her husband Roger of Kimberling City, MO, Stephen Dennis and his wife Cynthia of Monett, MO and Sondra Johnson and her husband Paul of Nixa, MO. Also surviving are stepchildren Trent Camp and Camille Madison and their spouses; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Thomas treasured his relationship with his Savior Jesus Christ and after high school graduation in 1947, the year he was baptized, he started preaching the gospel and continued that work for the rest of his life, a total of 75 years. He married Ann Florea April 11, 1948 and they lived in Mount Ayr, IA where he started a congregation of believers and continued working for The Lord in that community and holding meetings across mostly the central midwestern states and eventually to other states across the United States. Thomas and his family moved to Des Moines, IA in 1967 where his children completed their high school educations. In addition to many vacation Bible studies conducted during the summers, he led six study tours of the Bible Lands. As he aged and developed health complications, he moved to Nixa, MO to be closer to a daughter. He stopped traveling as an evangelist and was appointed as an Elder of the local congregation at Nixa soon after his arrival in Nixa. His wife Ann suffered a stroke and after subsequent health problems went to be with her Savior in 2018. He remarried to Deloise Camp in 2019 and she survives his passing. In his decades of ministry, he touched many lives and baptized many into the Lord and will be missed by congregations of believers across the United States. Family and friends will cherish his memories and the influence he had on their lives.
