Thelma Oretta Friebe, age 96, of Ozark, passed away February 25, 2022, at the North Park Village Assisted Living facility, in the company of family. She was born January 7, 1926 in Springfield, MO, the daughter of Orion and Lottie (Doran) Thompson.
Upon the return of her beloved high school sweetheart, Earl Friebe, from WWII on December 1, 1945, they were united in marriage on December 14, 1945. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before his death in 2004. Thelma was a devoted daughter, wife, mom, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and a dedicated friend to many.
Thelma was a long standing and devoted member of the Cassidy United Methodist Church and a dedicated member of the Cassidy UMW group. Alongside her fellow seamstresses of the Cassidy women's group, they created many quilts donated or used in the support of church missions. Because of her vast historical knowledge of family and event history, it was commonly heard at family gatherings-”Just ask Thelma-she will know the answer”.
Survivors include: A son, Edwin and wife Mary; brothers and sisters-in-law Fred Trachsel, Irene Jones, Johnie and Fran Friebe, and Lester Friebe; many nieces and nephews; cousins, extended family and a host of treasured friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, parents, sister Louella (Clyde) Wilson, brother Norman (Loeta) Thompson, brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gene and Jennie Friebe, Beryl Trachsel, Jeannie Friebe, nephew Timothy Becker; and beloved traveling companion-niece Linda Eden.
The family sends heartfelt thanks to the staff and residents of North Park Village and Good Shepherd Hospice for their kind and loving care of Thelma. Thank you to the Casssidy Church family and Thelma's family and friends for their gifts of cards and time.
