Surrounded by those that meant the most to him, his family, Terrance (Terry) Lamar Kolstad passed away on May 10, 2023, at the age of 79. Terry was born to Alfred and Eleanor Kolstad in Opheim, Montana. As a child, he showed extraordinary talent for both art and music. In high school he received several recognitions for his artistry. As a musician, Terry was a world-class trombonist and also played the organ and accordion. Throughout his life, he enjoyed painting oils, many of which can be found in the homes of his family.
More than anything, Terry’s relationship with Jesus Christ guided his steps. It was his faith and desire to serve others that brought him to Central Bible College (Springfield, MO), where he met the love of his life, Peggy. It was love at first site, a love that would last for 59 years and served as the bedrock for all of the their life adventures. Together, Peggy and Terry had three children: Michael, Kevin, and Amber Joy.
Terry held many titles in his life, from artist to entrepreneur, to successful business man, but his favorite role was being a father and grandfather. His grandkids were his heart and joy and included 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Terry impacted so many with a heart of compassion and generosity and always exuded the love of Jesus Christ. He understood the importance of putting people first and was never boastful. Terry had a quiet determination to be successful and to lift up those around him. He has been described as a generous man who understood the importance of prayer and the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Terry. From painting, performing and listening to music, spending time in the mountains of Colorado, a simple walk with his wife, or quiet time with friends and family, he always exuded joy. Terry had an uncanny ability to find happiness and “fun” in virtually anything and everything that he did. His personality was contagious to everyone he met and he kept people laughing because he could find humor in the most mundane life circumstances.
Terry’s love of life did not come to an end with his death, but continues with his family and those that he so gracefully influenced and impacted. Loved ones that will miss Terry the most include his wife, Peggy; three children and their spouses, Michael & Paula Kolstad, Kevin & Amy Kolstad, Stephen & Amber Tipps; grandchildren (and spouses), Kevin & Hailey Kolstad, Madison Kolstad, Kaitlyn & Garrett Stancer, Terran Tipps, Kaleb Kolstad, Lexie & Josh Cheezum, Karly Kolstad, Chase Kolstad; one great grandchild, Henley Stancer ; three brothers (and spouses), Dwain & Julaine Kolstad, Vince & Rose Kolstad, Robin Kolstad; and one sister (and spouse), Kelly & Will Bishop; brothers-in-law/sisters-in-law, Richard & Jan Benintendi, Janet Beard, and Robert Gagliardi; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
