Stefanie Dawn McCall, age 53, our beloved friend, sadly left our world on March 1, 2025 at her home in Spokane, Missouri, after a life joyfully lived in service and kindness. Known for her friendly smile and her remarkable ability to turn any chaos into order, Stefanie was what Mr. Rogers would describe as one of the helpers and as a result she impacted the lives of so many.
Stefanie was born April 20, 1971 in Springfield, Missouri, to Terry McCall and Christy McCall. Stefanie lived with her loving Mother near Cabool where she attended school, made friends, and was an excellent student. She graduated from Cabool High School in 1989. She was recruited to Drury College, now Drury University, where she earned a Degree in Communications/Journalism. Upon graduation she began her career with Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland. She loved her work, organizing volunteers and traveling to reach troops throughout Southwest Missouri. One of her favorite places was the Girl Scout Camp Finbrooke. She enjoyed mentoring scouts so much that in addition to her job at the main girl scout office, she also served as a troop leader for her little sister and her daughter. With the Girl Scouts, Stefanie had the opportunity to travel, even meeting some famous people through girl scouts. She not only traveled in the United States, but to other countries where she impacted girl scouts worldwide.
Stefanie worked for the Springfield Park Board as an event coordinator before taking her current position as the Community Engagement and Volunteer Coordinator for Ozarks Public Broadcasting, the local NPR/PBS station situated on the Missouri State University campus. Stefanie was a natural planner and organized amazing events both professionally and personally.
Stefanie also loved to travel with friends and family, visiting many locations in the states and around theworld. She enjoyed bird watching and gardening and always had a beautiful flower bed full of zinnias. Stefanie was an avid scrapbooker. She loved her weekend scrapbooking retreats with her friends. Her many scrapbooks will help keep her favorite memories alive for her family and friends.
As much as she enjoyed life, Stefanie’s greatest joy of all, was being a mother to her beautiful twins, Juliet and Justin! The Twiners, as she lovingly referred to them, were born on July 19, 2002. They filled her life with love and fun! With the twins her heart was truly full and adoring mother became her most cherished role. She also loved her close friends' children as her own and enjoyed being Auntie Stefie and a Fairy-Godmother.
Christopher came into Stefanie’s life October 5, 2008. They fell head over heels, were engaged on her birthday in 2011 and married September 8, 2012, surrounded by family and friends at their home in Spokane, Missouri. Christopher and Stefanie created a fun wedding where they planned every detail to reflect their personality and love for one another, right down to cooking and making their own wine for the celebration.
Once Stefanie entered someone’s life, she left a lasting brightness and warmth. She loved to be with friends and family and formed many long-lasting connections. It made her happy to be where she could reconnect and laugh with the special people in her life. Her legacy of service to all the lives she graced will be eternally lasting. Stefanie’s laughter and sense of humor will stay with us. She truly was one of a kind and we are all better for knowing her.
