Sidney G. Porter

Sidney G. Porter, 71, of Nixa, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at St. John"�s Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. He was born October 15, 1939, in Edgerton, Missouri, the son of Clifton and Helen (Denney) Porter. He was united in marriage to Wanda Ernst on December 28, 1963, St. Louis, Missouri. Sidney was a graduate of the University of Missouri with a B.S. in Agricultural Economics, he served in the United States Army National Guard. He had retired as a manufacturing labor relations representative, working for such companies as Zenith, Ford, Chrysler, Macon Beef Packers, and Western Auto. He was a resident of Nixa since 1993, a member of the Nixa Christian Church. An avid car enthusiast, a duck collector, loved boating and fishing. Survivors include: His wife Wanda Porter, two children, Sean Porter and wife Allison of Atlanta, GA, Melissa Cooper and husband Kevin of Marble Hill, MO; four grandchildren, Katrina, Kathlyn, Keegan, and Clifton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Terence Porter. Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Wednesday, June 15 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa with Pastor Chad Mattingly officiating. Visitation will be 1 "� 3 PM Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude"�s Children"�s Hospital or to the Nixa Christian Church.
