Shirley Woolsey

December 13, 1937 — October 3, 2019

Shirley Ann (James) Woolsey, aged 81, died October 3, 2019 in Springfield, MO. Shirley was born December 13, 1937 to Lonnie Eugene James and Nellie Kean James of St James, Missouri. Shirley loved her family, home-making, gardening and combing the beaches for seashells. She was a good wife to Richard Woolsey, loving him her entire life, and was a wonderful Mother to her four children. Raising a family was Shirley's lifelong dream and she always took time for her children, helping with Halloween costumes, making big cakes on their birthdays and decorating their home festively for every holiday. Shirley had a wonderful, sarcastic sense of humor, was always a comedian and kept us laughing, and was eager to experience new adventures. Through Shirley's generous and loving heart, she continually made her family comfortable and happy. Shirley is survived by her brother Gene James and his wife Dorothy, and by two children Rhonda and Lana Woolsey. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother Donald James, her ex-husband Richard Woolsey, their son Vince Richard Woolsey and their daughter Susanne Kaye Woolsey Carroll. Shirley was easy to love and will be missed by many, and her legacy and love for nature, beautiful gardens and landscapes will live on forever. Donations in lieu of flowers to the American Kidney Fund are appreciated: https://www.kidneyfund.org/about-us/ A Memorial celebrating Shirley's life will be held at a later date and time to be announced. Cremation is under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
