Shirley Geraldine Jones

Shirley Geraldine Jones, 86, of Garrison went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 26, 2022.

Shirley was born on August 3, 1935 in Modesto, CA; the daughter of Oren and Opal (Stevens) Jones. On March 14, 1953, she was united in marriage to George William Jones. Together, the two shared 64 years of marriage before his passing in 2017. Shirley was saved at an early age and has always been a member of Garrison Baptist Church.

Shirley retired from Zenith after working many years as a supervisor. Her work ethic was part of what defined her; Shirley was known to be “too tough for her own good.” She often showed this by working in her garden until “there was nothing left to do but pick up sticks.” This toughness is just one of the many gifts she leaves to her beloved family. Another gift she gave her family was her love for cooking, you always knew you could stop by for a hot meal. Shirley loved her family above all – and showed it.

She is survived by three children, Teresa Phelps and Keith of Sunrise Beach, Rick Jones and Teresa of Garrison, and Kelly Jones and Jeanine of Garrison; six grandchildren, Fallon and Sam Gorham, Kelby Phelps, LeAnna and Josh Gilbert, Candra and Jeremy Gilbert, Courtney and Clint Johnson, and Brittney and Gratt Dalton; 14 great-grandchildren, Jayden, Landry, Otis, Olivia, Lauren, Paden, Paris, Paisley, Gentry, Colin, Calie, Grayce, Brayle, and Truett; and one sister, Linda and Jerry Rozell of Chadwick, two sisters-in-law, Nona Jones of Sparta, and Zelda Jones of Garrison.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; brothers, Harold Jones, Ron Jones, Russell Jones, brothers-in-law, Gordon Jones, and Jerry and Marti Jones; sisters, Norma Dean Davis, Juanita and Roy Maggard, Phyllis Knight, Jewell and Charles Lee, and Faye and Don Walker.

A Funeral will be held for Shirley at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Garrison Baptist Church in Garrison, MO. Following the Funeral, burial will be held in Garrison Cemetery.
