Shirley Edwards

Shirley Bernice Edwards, age 92, of Springfield, passed away August 15, 2018. She was born in Illinois, November 14, 1925, one of seven children of Robert and Katie Childers. On December 24, 1946 she and Rev. Robert O. Edwards were married. She supported his ministry in Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri Shirley always worked hard, both as a minister's wife and in raising her family. She was a loving mother and was encouraging to others. Shirley was an excellent cook, and enjoyed serving meals to family and friends. Survivors include: Two children and their spouses, Pam and Johnny Fite of Ozark, and Robert O. Edwards Jr. and Irene of St. Louis; five grandchildren, Amy Fite and husband Rob Rigdon of Highlandville, Bethany Fite and husband Michael Olwig of Battlefield, Lydia Edwards, Nina Edwards and Maria Edwards, all of St. Louis; three great-grandchildren, Seamus Hamilton of St. Louis, Jonathan Rigdon, of Highlandville, and Emma Olwig of Battlefield; and a very special niece, Carla Learn. Her husband, Robert, preceded her in death in 2014. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. A graveside funeral will be 1:00 PM Friday, August 17, at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. Visitation will be 12:00-12:30 PM Friday at Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rainbow Network Medical Missions.
