Santiago Sambrano "Jim" Apodaca died peacefully in his home on September 14, 2015 in Ozark, MO at the age of 82 after a long battle with kidney disease. He was blessed to have spent his final days in his home, cared for by his loving family and the staff of Mercy Hospice.
Jim is survived by his daughters & son-in-law, Yvette Garcia, Yvonne & Vic Costales; grandchildren, Al Costales, Art Costales, Aaron Costales, Brandon Costales, Tyler Costales, Joshua Garcia, Brittany Garcia & her fianc� Rob McNamara; great grandchildren Willow Costales, Skylar Costales and Art Jr. Costales; his siblings, Art Apodaca & wife Mira, Corina Granillo & husband Ramon, and Mary Apodaca. His boxer dogs, Rosie & Gunner stood by his bed side.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents Santiago "Jimmy" and Francesca Apodaca; his wife Stella Mary "Tillie" Apodaca and his great grandson Jordan Costales.
Jim was born April 4, 1933 in Fort Hancock, Texas. He joined the Navy and Marines after high school and is veteran of the Korean War. In 1958 Jim and Tillie were united in marriage and welcomed two daughters, Yvonne and Yvette. He attended Mt San Antonio College in California and received degrees in Engineering & Liberal Arts. He worked in law enforcement as deputy sheriff for LA County and retired from Hughes Aircraft/General Motors as a Superintendent, in Fullerton CA ground systems branch, after 31 years of service. Jim retired to Berryville, AR to pursue his dream of raising Longhorn cattle. He had a passion for his Arabian horses and a love for all animals his entire life! Jim worked as a security officer for Lodge of the Ozarks and Grand Crowne Resorts in Branson, MO.
Arrangements are being handled by Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, MO. A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2015, 10 AM at the Shrine of The Holy Spirit, 179 Expressway Lane, Branson, MO 65616. Dave Hamner will officiate the ceremony. Interment will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, Fort Bliss Texas.
