Sandra (Smith) Lyons, of Ozark, Missouri, formerly Yorkville, Illinois, went Home to be with her Lord on June 16, 2021. Sandra was born on May 12, 1942 in Bristol, Virginia to Charles and Eula (Bellamy) Smith. Sandra was married to James Lyons on October 28, 1961. She and James had two children, Mark (Terry) Lyons of Aurora, Illinois and Tracy (R. Joe) Paxton of Springfield, Missouri.
Sandra was very dedicated to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ through the work and efforts she completed through her church. She served as an Awana leader, church secretary, and started a scrapbook group and after her victorious battle with breast cancer WINC (Women in Need of Care) group. She also served in other roles during her life as a school room mother, a Cub Scout Den Leader, VBS leader and Sunday School teacher. Sandra was currently at First Baptist Church, Ozark, Missouri.
Sandra and James met at East Aurora High School, part of the first class to attend all three years at the current location, and enjoyed traveling to nearly all 50 states, with their children, family and/or friends. She has also visited several National Parks and Monuments and enjoyed sharing these attractions with her children.
Along with her husband and children, she is survived by a brother, Ronald (Barbara) Smith of Odesa, Missouri, her grandchildren Adam (Angelica) Lyons of Aurora, Illinois, Timothy Lyons of Aurora, Illinois, Shannen Paxton of Springfield, Missouri and Aubrey Paxton of Springfield, Missouri. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Ava and Aiden Lyons and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Services will be held at Harvest New Beginnings in Oswego, Illinois on Saturday, June 26, 2021 with visitation from 11 am to 1 pm with services to follow.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Kidney Fund or American Cancer Society.
