Ruth “Allene” Hicks, age 88, of Ozark, gently departed this world on April 4, 2025, leaving behind a legacy woven with love and cherished memories. Born in Souder, Missouri, on August 3, 1936, she was the beloved daughter of Woodrow Eugene and Rosa Ruth (Morgan) Enloe.
On an autumn day, September 26, 1955, Allene united with the love of her life, Norman Hicks. Their remarkable 69 years of marriage blossomed with unwavering devotion and a partnership that radiated warmth. Together, they celebrated life’s joys and faced its challenges, forever entwined in love until Norman’s passing on October 27, 2024.
Allene’s vibrant spirit found expression in her diverse roles. From her time at Hallmark in Kansas City to her positions at Heers, Royal McBee, and Zenith in Springfield, she brought creativity and dedication to all her endeavors. A gifted teacher, she shared her passion for ceramics from her home, and as a devoted homemaker, she transformed her house into a place where everyone felt welcome. Allene truly represented the essence of “Mom” and “Grandma,” a nurturing figure who opened her heart and home to everyone. They knew that at Allene’s, there was always a place to gather and create unforgettable memories. Norman's job was to make the money and her job was to raise the girls and spend the money which she did well her daughters said. Her kind hands touched the lives of everyone she met.
Allene proudly served as Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Rockbridge and actively participated in her community as a devoted member of the Utopia Club in Ozark. Her heart was a garden that nurtured friendships, embracing family and friends alike, and fostering a sense of belonging.
She leaves behind her daughters, Norma Ryan and her husband Mike, and Debbie Burbee and her husband Jerry; five beloved grandchildren: Chris Ryan and his partner Micahla Lovewell, Monte Ryan and his wife Becky, Amy Posterick and her husband Tyler, Michael Burbee and his wife Kristen, and Joseph Burbee and his wife Delaney; along with great-grandchildren who were the light of her life: Shannon Ryan, Benjamin Ryan, Ezekiel, Elena Burbee, Logan Eury and Layne Eury, and a great great grandchild, Baylor Gayle Bush.
Allene is also survived by her brother, Gerald Allen Enloe, and her sister, Karen Schulte and husband Mark, along with numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
In addition to her beloved husband, Allene has been reunited in spirit with her parents, her brother, Woody Eugene Enloe and sister in law, Patty Enloe.
