Russell Dean Hughes, age 86, of Ozark, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014, in his home. He was born June 14, 1928, in Chadwick, the son of Henry and Ethel (Andrews) Hughes. On August 1, 1950, he and Margrett Jane "Susie" (Braden) were united in marriage.
Russell was a carpenter, home builder, and refinisher by trade. He liked music, fishing, and being outdoors enjoying nature. Russell always had a big smile for everyone, and was fondly called "Hap". He loved his family and enjoyed his friends and their "little ones".
Survivors include: His wife, Susie; two daughters and their husbands, Anita and David Thebeau of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Linda and Butch Miceli of Pawley's Island, South Carolina; a sister, Lorene Workman of Ozark; three sisters-in-law, Wanda Johnson, Alice Hughes and Emmo Jean Hughes; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Hughes and Don Hughes, three sisters, Zola Workman, Agnes Roberts, and Eula Estes; a grandson Christopher Nitzsche, and his parents.
A graveside funeral will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 25, in Old Boston Cemetery, Oldfield. No visitation is planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home Ozark.
Memorial donations may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital or to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
