Rudolph Edwin "Rudy" Smutny, age 72, of Ozark, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015. He was born March 2, 1943 in Madison, Nebraska, the son of Edwin and Mary (Knapp) Smutny. When Rudy was 17 his father died. Rudy left school to maintain the family farm and help support his mother, brothers and sisters.
During his working career Rudy was a truck driver. He moved from Nebraska to Branson in 1994 where he drove a tour bus and later worked in construction in the area. He met Betty Day and they were married July 11, 1998. Nine years ago they moved to Ozark. He attended James River Church. Even after retiring from truck driving Rudy enjoyed driving the "wide open spaces". He also loved riding his motorcycle.
Survivors include: His wife, Betty; a son, Rick Smutny and wife Son�t of Battlecreek, NE; a daughter Tonya Wilhelm and husband Mike of Elmwood, NE; two step-children, Steve Day of Austin TX, and Tanya Wharton and husband Brian of Springfield, MO; eight grandchildren, Dalton and Sadie Smutny, Kayleigh, Jacqueline and Victoria Wilhelm, Katelyn Howell, Brice and Brittney Wharton; two brothers, Jim Smutny and Lenny Smutny and wife Jan; six sisters, Pat Reznicek, Rita Johnson and Jim, Rosie Kenny and Kevin, Vicky Demmell and Al, Teresa Tucker and Ward, and Susie Nathan and Jack; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 18, in Clark Chapel, James River Church, Ozark. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM Saturday until service time. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
