Roy Gene Baird, age 76, of Highlandville, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018. He was born December 8, 1941 in Ozark, the son of Oran Ralph Baird and Mable Amanda (Broce) Baird. On December 10, 1960 he and Linda Mae Blevins were united in marriage.
Roy was a farmer for most of his life. He was a wonderful husband and dad, and was dearly loved as "Grandpa" "Papal", and "Papaw". Roy enjoyed fishing and gardening and made fishing lures for family and friends. He was a prayer warrior, praying fervently for the many people who needed and asked for his prayers. He was a member of Spokane First Baptist Church, and had attended Finley River Cowboy Church for the past year.
Survivors include: His wife of 57 years, Linda; a son, Scott Baird and wife Michelle of Nixa; three grandchildren, Matthew Baird and fiancee Shiloh, Phil "P.J." Baird and wife Meagan; and Misty Baird and fiance Dan; three great-grandchildren, Lily Baird, Owen Baird, and Eli Smith; two sisters, Sharon Mitchell and husband Jerry, of Chadwick, and Wanda Estep of Harrison, AR; and a very special cousin who thought of Roy as her own Dad, Alice Seaton; and a honorary grandson Josh Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, January 20, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Burial will follow in Highlandville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Friday.
