Rosario Moneda-Hernandez, age 74, of Republic passed away Saturday, January 15, 2016. She was born January 15, 1942 in Jalisco, Mexico, to Manual and Amanda (Verdugo) Moneda. Rosario's father was a Federale officer and her mother was a Mexican poet.
Rosario's family describes her as loving, adventurous, and religious. She was an Evangelist and traveled many places, serving her Lord. Rosario was a civil rights activist and was present during the 1965 Watts riots. Rosario loved music, especially the Blues, Jazz, and Gospel. She was a mariachi singer and disc-jockey. She loved nature and loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren equally. Rosario was a member of the Berean Class at Seminole Baptist Church, Springfield.
Rosario is survived by her family: children Bobbie Moneda-Platte, husband David, of MI, Joanna Yurush, husband Joe, of MI, Patti Perks, husband Michael, of MO, Christopher Laflin, wife Amy, of CA, Gregory Laflin, wife Kim, of MI; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Rosario is preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
