Roger L. Melton Sr., age 66, of Nixa, passed away January 5, 2013 at his home with his family by his side after battling cancer for 5 years. He was born July 7, 1946 in Springfield, MO to Sam and Betty (Brown) Melton. Roger graduated from Central High School in 1964. He worked for Brown Bottling Company until he joined the Air Force where he served one year in Vietnam. He worked for Kraft Foods where he retired from after 32 � years of service. After retirement he drove a bus for the Nixa School System for 5 years. He was a member and had just become a deacon of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. During his battle with cancer Roger never faulted from his strong belief in Jesus Christ and used his faith to help him endure the worst of days. Roger"�s greatest times were with his grandchildren, bowling, and motorcycle rides. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patricia Ann (Jackson); his sons and their wives, Roger Jr. and Patricia of Clarksville, AR, and Tim and Sarah of Ozark; his daughter Melissa Tonche and fianc�e"� Scott of Springfield; grandchildren, whom he was very proud of, Lakin, Hannah, Ciera, Zachary, and Joshua; three brothers and their wives, Ronnie and Charlotte of Alderson, WV, Rick and Katy of Nixa, Randy and Brenda of Ozark; an aunt, Mary Brown of Springfield, MO; sister-in-law and husband, Glenda and Phillip Wines of Springfield, MO; brother-in-law and wife, Richard and Debbie Jackson of Nixa, MO, and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Brian Matthew Melton, and a brother Robert. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, January 9, in Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Springfield, with Pastor Hosea Bilyeu officiating. Burial will follow in McConnell Cemetery, Nixa. Visitation will be from 4:30 until 6:30PM Tuesday in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mercy Hospice in Roger"�s name.
