Robert M. Whittaker, age 73, passed away Monday, July 2, 2012, after a tragic farming accident. He was born to Charles and Audie (Gage) Whittaker June 27, 1939, in Phillipsburg. Robert loved farming and raising cattle. After retiring from Dayco as a plant manager, he worked at the Springfield Livestock Auction a few days per week. Robert attended Liberty Baptist Church, in Everton, and was a member of the Sac River Cowboy Church, serving on the board. On November 9, 2004, Robert married Dorma Lou McCroskey. Robert is survived by his wife Dorma Lou, son, Robert Whittaker Jr. and wife Karen, of Spokane, daughter Patricia Ann Grubb, and husband Robert, of Joplin, Step-children Mike McCroskey and wife Jude, of Willard, Cheryl Haik and husband Jim, of Nixa, Gail Gugel and husband Wayne, of Billings, Vicki Eagleburger of Marionville, Ken McCroskey and wife Evy, of Springfield, and Jan Pearl and husband Mike, of Springfield; siblings Jean May, Springfield, Jerry Whittaker and wife Linda, of Fair Grove, Sue Jones and husband Wilford, of Springfield. Robert is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leo Whittaker, and Doyle Whittaker.
Visitation for Robert M. Whittaker will be Thursday, July 5, 2012, from 5:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa
Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 A.M. July 6, 2012, at the Funeral Home.
