Robert J Haswell, age 78, passed away December 10, 2015, at his home in Nixa, after a battle with prostate cancer. He was born June 15, 1937, the son of Robert Marcum and Maxine (Liles) Haswell. He graduated from Central High School, class of 1955. The same year Bob married Janet Glee Sell. They enjoyed 48 years of marriage. After her passing, he married Susan Carpenter Barnett in 2004.
Bob was involved with several different occupations throughout his life. He owned an insurance brokerage firm, a medical malpractice insurance company, a modular home manufacturing plant, limousine and sightseeing bus industries, and developed residential housing. He spent time pastoring in United Methodist and Assembly of God churches. He also authored two books, Sharing the Gospel Made Easy and The Man from Arimathaea. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and playing tennis. Most of all, Bob loved God and his family. He never wavered in his faith.
Survivors include his wife, Susan; three children, Pam Haswell and her partner, Tracy Tunnell of Tulsa, OK; Sandy Balsters and her husband, Brad, of Springfield; and Marc and his wife Georgia, of Aurora; and two step-daughters, Belinda and her husband Chuck Mercer, of Ozark; and Barb and her husband Mark Stillings of Nixa. His eleven grandchildren are Major Christopher(wife, Amy), David and Bradley Balsters, Rebecca (husband, Lt. Johnpaul) Norman; Janeil and Alex Haswell; Amber Gorman; Mason, Chandler and Christian Mercer; and Cameron Stillings. He also has five great grand-children and a sixth coming next year. Other survivors include brothers- and sisters-in-laws Bob and Violet Sell, Dian Barker, Ann Thweatt, and Kelly Carpenter.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 14, at Cassidy United Methodist Church, Nixa, MO. Interment will follow at Maple Park Cemetery in Springfield.
