Robert "Bob" Charles Burns, 78, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019 in Springfield. Bob was born February 6, 1941 in Chicago, IL, the son of William and Ruth (Keller) Burns. He married Ruth May on October 12, 1996, with whom he shared nearly 24 years. Surviving are: Ruth and their combined Children and Grandchildren; Daughters, Jennifer (Duane) Henniger, Roberta (Casey) Burton; Siblings, Kenneth (Judy) Burns, Norma (late Robert) Hausherr, and Charlene (Donald) Udoni. He was a cherished grandfather of eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, with one on the way. He was also a fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ruth Burns, and his sister, Jeri Lynn Kolodie. Bob was a wonderful person and would give you the shirt off his back. He cherished life to the fullest and was always there to give a helping hand to whoever needed it, be it fixing a car or making one of his favorite soups or chili. Bob loved to talk to anyone about anything and was always looking for a bargain. Bob was one of a kind and will never be forgotten or replaced. Everyone loved when he visited to hear his funny stories and he always had a good one that made you laugh. The kids just loved him. He will always be in our hearts. A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Spokane First Baptist Church. A burial with full military honors will be held at Massachusetts National Cemetery on Friday, October 11, 2019.
