Robert "Bob" Moore was born to Ed and Verna Moore on November 3, 1934. He grew up on a dairy farm in the White Rock community close to Houston, Missouri. He married Bonneta Peace, his wife of 62 years, and worked in St. Louis for 40 years, where they raised their beloved sons, Robert Randall and Terry Jay, who preceded him in death in 1974 and 1970.
They owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Eureka, Missouri, and he worked for General Cable in St. louis for 22 years before retiring to Ozark, Missouri in 1994. They joined the First Baptist Church in Ozark where they made a host of friends, sang in the choir, and enjoyed all church activities. He and Bonneta have enhanced the lives of many through their extensive volunteer efforts with the church. Mercy Hospital, Master Gardener Program, and any cause that helped others. Robert was a joyful, intelligent spirit who wrote often and published letters to the editor expressing his common sense values to educate and inform the public based on fact verses emotion. He was a man of great faith who could walk a mile in another's moccasins with understanding and compassion.
Known for his keen sense of humor, his friends and family were always welcomed with jovial delight and a big smile - he was the highlight at family gatherings and never missed one. He sang in a quartet in Eureka, Missouri and enjoyed ballgames, gardening, fishing, family and the beautiful Ozark rivers. He was always the first to know when the mushrooms were up. He produced a great garden every year and was honored with the title of Master Gardener Emeritus by the University of Missouri Extension. He served as chairman of the Master Gardener Hotline and participated in beautification projects throughout the community. He enjoyed taking tomatoes to the Baptist Home, which were enjoyed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Bonneta; two brothers, Gaylord and Stanley Moore; a sister, Velma Phelps; sister in law and husband, Ronald and Wanda Simpson; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws who will remember him with fondness and great respect - thankful and blessed that he was part of our lives.
