Robert Joseph “Bob” Inman, age 85, of Nixa, MO, left Earth for his Heavenly Home on October 29th, 2023. He was born to Carl Oliver and Mary Ellen (Newkirk) Inman at their home in the Pheasant Hill community near Vinita, OK, on January 13, 1938. The family later moved to a farm in the Kelso community north of Vinita where he lived until his marriage when he became a Vinita resident. He was a 1956 graduate of Vinita High School. He served 6 years as a member of the U.S. Army National Guard.
On June 7, 1959, Bob was married to Glenda Ann Collins by her father, Rev. Glenn Collins, at Eastside Baptist Mission in Vinita. To their marriage of 64 years were born two daughters, Deborah Jo and D’anne Reanae.
Growing up, Bob attended the Kelso Baptist Church where, at the age of 15, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. Later, he was baptized and became a member of that church. In the years that followed, Bob remained an active church member in the various communities where they lived, serving as an ordained deacon, Sunday School teacher, worked in AWANA Clubs, served as a bus driver, and a greeter.
Immediately after high school graduation, Bob took a job at the Louie Skirvin Feed Store in Vinita where he worked until early 1962 when he was hired by Grand River Dam Authority to work at their Pensacola Dam, Langley, OK. He served 13 years there, first in the maintenance department and then as a junior operator.
In June 1972, Bob became an employee of the U.S. government, moving with his family to Ft. Smith, MT, where he was a power plant operator at Yellowtail Dam. In the fall of 1976, he transferred to Watertown, SD, as an electrical power dispatcher.
In March 1978, the family moved to Nixa, MO, when Bob was hired as a dispatcher, later serving as chief dispatcher, for Southwestern Power Administration. He retired January 1, 2000. Bob also served seven years as a member of the Nixa Fire District Board.
After his devotion to his Savior and Lord, Bob’s family came first. They include his wife; daughters and sons-in-law Debbie and Daniel Hartwell (Nixa) and D’anne and Tim Schnakenberg (Clever); grandchildren Cord and Dionne Schnakenberg, Collin Schnakenberg, Hallie Hartwell and Trey Hartwell; great-granddaughter Zoe Schnakenberg; sisters and brothers-in-law Dorothy Carder, Sharon and Richard Smith, and Betty and James McCallie; sisters-in-law Jamesetta Newman, Jan Collins, and Sannie Collins; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister Patsy O’Neill, brother Carl Wayne Inman and wife Lefty, and brothers-in-law Lloyd Carder and Ed Collins.
Until his health no longer allowed, Bob enjoyed raising a vegetable and flower garden each year. He was also an avid collector of toy John Deere tractors and cars and enjoyed his large collection of each. He adored time spent with his grandchildren and making family memories.
