Rick Lane Reese

December 13, 1950 — November 14, 2012

Lane Reese was born December 13, 1950 as the fifth and youngest child of Herman and Cleta (Clair) Reese. He died unexpectedly in his sleep on Wednesday, November 14, 2012. Rick was born in the tiny hospital in Niangua, Missouri and lived just outside of town through his youth. He graduated from Niangua High School in 1968. For a short time, he lived and worked in St. Louis before going to serve in the Army in Vietnam. He worked as a fleet mechanic at Foremost Dairy for many years. He later worked at Highland Dairy where he was a mechanic and later became the shop foreman. He retired from Highland Dairy in 2003. Later, he worked for Springfield Brake. Rick was a master mechanic and could fix anything. He was generous with all his talents and was called on often by his friends and family to fix cars, pound nails, cut down trees and burn brush. He was a hardworking man, sometimes working two jobs to support his family. He was a self-made man who seldom asked for help but was always ready to give it. Rick had a quick wit and the talent to make people laugh. He loved a good joke. He truly knew how to have a good time and he loved the company of his many friends. He recently had taken up golf and attacked it with the same dedication he showed in all that he did. Rick was a genuine person, a true friend to those he loved and a supportive and loyal husband. He truly was one of the "good guys". He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sally (Turner), two sons and a daughter: Chris Reese of Nixa, MO and his wife Lynna, Eric Reese of Ozark, MO and his wife Stacy and Jamie Reese, also of Ozark, MO. He is also survived by three stepchildren: Todd Turner of Springfield, MO, Matthew Turner, also of Springfield and Alexa (Turner) Dickson of Ft. Collins, CO. He also leaves Kathy (Meyer) Younger, the mother of his children and the entire Meyer family to whom he had a special bond reaching back to his boyhood days in Niangua. Rick was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren whom he loved and treasured. He also leaves his sister, Gladys Letterman, currently of Springfield, his brother, Jim Reese of Marshfield and his wife Donna and his sister Sharon Kay Fain of Butler, MO and her husband, Larry. He was preceded in death by his mother, who died when he was just 10 years old, his father and his brother, Bill Reese and Bill"s wife Sharon. A visitation will be held Friday, November 16, 2012 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Graveside services are at Copening Cemetery, Niangua, Missouri, at 12:30 P.M. Saturday, November 17, 2012. Memorial donations may be made in lieu flowers to the Wounded Warrior Project.
