Richard Winston Walker, age 84, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Mercy Hospital, in Springfield. He was born August 27, 1928 to Winston and Ruth (Goetz) Walker, in Cleveland, Ohio. After completing medical school, Dr. Richard Walker joined the United States Army, serving as a doctor during the Korean War. After serving his country, he practiced medicine in San Francisco, CA, and later in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Richard retired in 2001 and later moved to Nixa. Richard is survived by his former wife, Melanie Walker of Nixa, 1 son, Joseph Hunter Walker, and his wife Karen, of Nixa , 2 daughters, Jan Walker of Golita, CA, and Meriam Carter, and her husband Dave, of Oakfield, Maine. Richard is also survived by a sister, Marty Kennedy, and her husband Ed, of Rocky River, OH, 3 grandchildren, Samuel Carter, Jamison Walker, and Ariel Nelson, and a cousin Ken and Shirley Havens, of Macon, OH. Richard was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2012, at 10:00 A.M. at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
