Richard Ralph Matsie, age 81, of Oldfield, Missouri, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015. He was born November 3, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Ralph and Helen Matsie. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. As a talented singer, Richard traveled with a military singing group, entertaining as he served in the U.S. and Germany.
On August 15, 1971 he and Gloria Bennette Hopkins were married. Richard retired from the Lake County, Illinois Sheriff's Department. In 1998 he and Gloria moved, making their home in the Ozarks. Richard had a passion for photography, and enjoyed painting and drawing. Gloria always enjoyed hearing him sing.
Survivors include: His wife, Gloria; a daughter Hollis Marie Hopkins Burnette and husband Mike Burnette of Oldfield; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, and a sister Dorothy Wade of California.
He was preceded in death by a son Darrell James Hopkins, a daughter Cheryl Grace Hopkins Skelly, a brother Rocco Matsie. and his parents.
A funeral service will be 3:00 PM Monday, February 23, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Deacon Patrick Skelly officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM on Monday until service time. Richard will be cremated following the service.
