Richard "Dick" McKee

November 3, 1939 — October 19, 2024

Richard Ray “Dick” McKee was born the third child of Lawrence “Bud” and Elizabeth “Blanche” McKee on November 3, 1939, in Everest, Brown County, Kansas. Richard passed away peacefully on October 19, 2024 surrounded by his wife and family in Ozark, Missouri.

Dick married his beautiful bride, Sharlene June Harris at Stony Point Christian Church, on December 3, 1966. Dick briefly served his country in the Kansas National Guard. He also dabbled in various businesses, but his primary occupation was truck driving, where he retired from Consolidated Freightways in 1995. Never one to sit still, he quickly began a carpet cleaning business where many family members had the pleasure of working along side of him. Dick was a member of Spokane 1st Baptist Church.

Dick and Sharlene loved to travel to different places. One of their favorite destinations was Aruba. They also enjoyed frequent trips to the casinos and Dick was rarely seen without a plan to buy some lottery tickets. Some of the best friendships they have were formed by their visits to area restaurants.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Charlene Grewing; a sister in law, Wilda McKee; a daughter in law, Vonda Sheets; a son, David McKee; and his nephew, Curt Grewing.

He is survived by his wife Sharlene; his children; Robbie Mott, Greg Sheets, Sheri White, Julie Swan, Cindy Little, and her husband David, and Vicki Wallace, and her husband Lane. He was “Grandpa Dick” to 18 grandchildren, and bunches and bunches of great grandchildren. Survivors also include his brother, Roland McKee, three brothers in law: Richard Harris and wife Jana, Bob Harris and wife Celia and Johnny Harris, numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and some of the best friends a man could wish for.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Spokane 1st Baptist Church, Spokane, Missouri under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Pastor Randall Harwood officiating.
