Richard Joseph Bass, 77, of Salinas, California, crossed over Wednesday April 17, 2024 after a long battle with illness.
He had the creativity of an artist and the mathematical mind of an engineer. He had a passion for creating something, whether it was constructing a motorcycle, a car, a boat, a restaurant, a house, a chocolate shake or a daughter. He has been successful in many businesses due to his determination, compassion and hard work. His mind and hands never stopped working and I am absolutely certain he is constructing now with the angels. He was a fan of fishing, football and NASCAR and was a dare devil himself in his younger years, so the motors he built were fast. In the last month, he would dream of owning a race horse and being at Salinas Rodeo, racing laps at Laguna Seca or stealing an ambulance to make his big escape.
He was a man of integrity and a loving, devoted father who was dedicated to his family, friends and sweet dogs. He is loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends, many of whom he has known from childhood. He exchanged a piece of his heart with his daughter so they will always be with each other. He attended Sacred Heart School and Graduated from Palma School.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elena Louise (Futini) and James Willard Bass. He is survived by his daughter Bridgette D. Bass, Aunt Antonia (Futini) Mitchell and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Rosedale Valley Memorial Gardens, 1340 S. Main St., Nixa, Missouri, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa.
