Walter Ray Wilcox, age 84, of Clever passed away Friday, June 30, 2017. Ray was born September 18, 1932 in Nixa to Walter and Feona (Smith) Wilcox.
Ray served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. Ray was very active in the Nixa area and served as president of the annual Sucker Days event. Ray was a cook for Sucker days for 40 years. He was always cooking at fish fries and had an annual pig roast which always drew a large crowd. Ray was an avid outdoorsman. He hunted and fished all of his life. He owned a farm and raised cattle. Ray also owned Wilcox Vickers service station for many years and offered services such as brakes, tires and oil changes. He was a regular at the NLA Caf� and sat at the "Liars Club" table with many of his friends where tall tales and many jokes were shared. Ray leaves behind many great memories and friends. He will be greatly missed.
Ray is survived by his children Pamela Bridges of Trimble, Daniel Wilcox of Clever, and Ryan Wilcox of St. Louis; two grandchildren Amber Cook, her husband Nathan, of St. Louis and Bryant Bridges of Kansas City.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents; ten siblings Genevieve, Ruby, Mamie, Goldie, Louise, Clay, Clark, Roy, Thelma and Donald.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. A visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Jones-Chastain Cemetery, Nixa.
