Ray Gene Hopkins, age 73, of Galena, formerly of Highlandville, departed life February 28, 2014 in his home. He was born February 2, 1941, to John Wilford & Ella Hopkins in Taney County. Ray proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. On October 29, 1965 he was united in marriage to Jane Austin. In profession, Ray was a truck driver and a mechanic. He served the Lord attending Craig Hollow Christian Union Church.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, uncles, aunts, and a granddaughter Savanna Rose Nickels.
Survivors include: his wife Jane of the home; his children, Ella Hopkins Thomas and husband Ron of Galena, Tommy Hopkins and wife Lynne of Nixa, Eric Hopkins and Chrissy Clifton; eight grandchildren; and a brother Billy Dean Hopkins, his wife Marilyn, of Highlandville.
A funeral service will be held 12:30 P.M. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 with Tommy Hopkins officiating at Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. Tuesday, March 4, 2014 also at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Missouri Veteran's Cemetery, Springfield, with full military honors.
