Rachel (Frazier) McCoy was born February 12, 1920 near Clever, Mo. and moved from this earth to the arms of Jesus for eternal life on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at the age of 92. Her parents were Clyde and Adah Frazier and she lived her entire life in Christian County. She graduated from Ozark High School in 1938, where she enjoyed singing in a girls' trio and quartet when they sang at music contests, as well as community weddings and funerals.
August 9, 1941,Rachel was united in marriage to Archie J McCoy and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage before his death in 1996. Rachel worked alongside Archie on a Grade A dairy farm west of Ozark until their retirement. She was an 86-year long member of Cassidy United Methodist Church where she served on many committees and in the United Methodist Women's group. Rachel was the oldest and, also longest-attending member at Cassidy Church. She was also a member of the Caring and Sharing Club, a former extension club. Rachel was a wonderful homemaker, seamstress, cake decorator and knitter, having knitted 42 prayer shawls, after age 89, for her church missions.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and one brother, Okla Frazier. Rachel is survived by her children, Jerry (Dorothy) McCoy; JoAn (Cal) Jewell; John (Vicki) McCoy and Jana Long; grandchildren Mark, Todd, Melissa, Randy, Brian, Casey, Jeffrey, Cara and Megan; great-grandchildren Levi, Abby, Kyle, Emily, Zack, Ashley, Conner, Katie, Madi, Kaylor, Kendall, Brady and Rhett; great-great-grandchildren Summer and Lindsey. Also, surviving are step-grandchildren David and Ryan and step-great-grandchildren Justin, Jake, Amber, Autumn, Greyson and Andee; one brother, Larry (Frances) Frazier, as well as many extended family members and friends.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, September 6, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Cassidy United Methodist Church, 5151 N Fremont Road, Fremont Hills/Nixa, MO. under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark, with Rev. Ron Melton officiating. Visitation will be held at the church the hour before the funeral service, beginning at 1:00 PM.
