Preston Jones, age 95, of Nixa passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025 after a brief illness. He was born August 23, 1929 in Nixa to Homer and Lorena (Hayes) Jones. He was a life long Nixa resident and attended Nixa Schools. He was united in marriage to Josephine Jennings of Protem, Missouri on December 31, 1952. They were married 65 years until her passing in 2018.
He is survived by his son Michael L (Susan) Jones of Nixa; daughter Darlane (James) Phipps of Nixa; brother in-law Finley (Alice) of Hurley; sister in-law Rosie Jennings of Protem; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Wesley and Lester; his wife Josephine; and daughter Diane White.
Preston had several careers. He served in the Army and was based in Newfoundland during the Korean War. He drove milk trucks, and at one time had his own milk route. He worked for Webster Oil Company and later had his own Phillips 66 Service Station.
Preston loved his Nixa Assembly of God Church. He always said, “God has never let me down.” He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and he loved to “tinker and fix stuff.”
A private graveside service was held on January 9, 2025 at McConnell Memorial Cemetery, Nixa, under direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Pastor Don Blansit officiating.
