Phyllis Jane Miller Cummins, age 80, of Ozark, passed away Friday, July 5, 2019. She was born February 28, 1939, in Nixa, the daughter of Ross and Edna (Warren) Dunham. Phyllis was a graduate of Nixa High School and received a bachelor's degree from Oklahoma Baptist University.
In 1960, she and Rev. Doyle Miller were married. As a pastor's wife she was active in churches throughout the Midwest. Phyllis loved her Lord and supported Women's Missionary Union groups wherever her husband pastored. A trip to Kazakhstan influenced her life in missions. Phyllis enjoyed watching birds and caring for family and friends. Doyle passed away in 2001.
In 2006, she and missionary Rev. Harold Cummins were married. They lived on The Baptist Home campus in independent living homes. Their current church membership has been with First Baptist Church Ozark. They had been devoted members of First Baptist Church in Springfield.
Survivors include: her husband Harold; two children Brent Miller of Bowie, Maryland, and Christy Gibson and husband Kevin of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Cosette Miller, and Gabriel Miller and wife Isabel; two stepdaughters, Cathy Palmer and Libby Bennett; and step-grandchildren, Geoffrey and Andrei Palmer, and Ellen and Ryan Bennett.
She was preceded in death by her husband Doyle, a brother, Warren Dunham; and two sisters, Etta Jean Farley and Becky Pierson.
A visitation will be from 2:00 - 3:00 PM Monday, July 8, at The Baptist Home in Ozark. Also a visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM Tuesday, July 9, at First Baptist Church, Springfield. The funeral service will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Springfield, with Senior Pastor Michael Overton and Dr. Phillip Burden officiating. Burial will follow in Selmore Cemetery, south of Ozark.
