Phillip McKinley Scott, age 76, of Ozark, passed away in his home Thursday, July 19, 2018. He was born June 9, 1942 in Baldwin, Mississippi, one of nine children of Leonard and Lillian (Mabry) Scott. He served his country in the U.S. Army. On December 6, 1968 he and Karan Dee Copenhaver were married.
Phillip established Lily Industrial Chemicals in 1975, along with several businesses during his career including Diamond Video in 1979, Supermart and Diamond Shopping Center in 1985, Classic Muscle Cars in 1995, and Ozark International Raceway from 1997-2003. Phillip loved drag racing, boats, and camping at the lake. Always busy, Phillip enjoyed his work and time he spent in the hay fields. He loved his family and friends and the time spent with them.
Survivors include: His wife, Karan; two children, Daniel Scott and wife Kim of Ozark, and Lillian Barrera and husband Rogelio of Santa Maria, CA; grandchildren, Lillian Alejandra, Julian Barrera, Andrea Barrera, Eric Scott and McKinley Scott; great-grandchildren, Joshua Phillip Barrera, and Marcelline Barrera; brothers and sisters, Bobby Joe Scott and wife Phyllis, Reuben Scott and wife Joann, Shelby James, and Trena Lunsford and husband, Sonny; and several nieces and nephews.
Phillip was preceded in death by a son, Phillip McKinley "Scotty" Scott Jr in 2002; sisters, Rhea Lytal, Sue Nicholson, Billmer Christian, and Shirley Morrison, and his parents.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, July 23, in Adams Funeral Home, Ozark. Burial will follow in Hopedale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 6:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home.
