Peggy Monger, age 78, of Nixa, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013. She was born March 9, 1935 in Anson, Texas, the daughter of John Clinton Bearden and Nona Bell (Maddux) Bearden.
In the 1950"�s Peggy worked for MFA Dairy Breeders. She then worked 28 years for Nixa Bank, which became Empire Bank. After retirement she enjoyed working at The Thicket in Springfield. Peggy served on the Board of Directors for the Nixa Senior Citizen Housing, and had also been a member of the Nixa Garden Club. She was a member of the O.E.S. Chapter #98. Peggy was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Springfield, where she also had volunteered in the administrative office for several years. She loved gardening and cooking for her family.
Peggy loved the Lord and her family with all her heart. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Survivors include: Two children, Lucia Cann and husband Bob of Springfield, and John Smith and wife Hope of Nixa; two grandchildren, Clinton Smith, and Jacob Smith; three step-grandchildren, Nathan, Jacob, and Sierra; a brother, Cubby Wayne Bearden and wife Dorothy of Rogersville and their daughters Claudia, Shelli, Mary Kay and Christie; a sister, Jimmy Lou Hughes and husband Alton of Abilene, Texas, and their sons, Doug and Stephen; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, October 3, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa, with Pastor Hosea Bilyeu officiating. Burial will follow in McConnell Bledsoe Cemetery, Nixa. Visitation will be from 5:00 "� 7:00 PM Wednesday in the funeral home.
