Paul Laverne Lackey, 94, of Nixa MO died April 6th 2015. Born on February 2nd 1921 in Mt. Vernon, MO, Paul was one of seven children born to Guy and Ethel Lackey.
He leaves his wife, Violet; daughter, Joyce Holder and her husband Gary, Monett; daughter, Karen Bloess, Springfield; son, Dennis and his wife Faye, Nixa; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and hundreds of friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, two sisters and two brothers.
On March 16th 1941 Paul married Violet Gray in Aurora. They had three children.
After serving in the Army Air Force as an airplane mechanic in World War II, Paul worked as an auto body man for 55 years building a successful business with the help of his brothers Wayne and Guy. Lackey Bodywork is still in business in Aurora MO.
Paul enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing, camping, gardening, golfing, floating and water skiing. Other hobbies included woodworking, watching baseball and football, and listening to music.
Paul was a lifelong Methodist and a member of Aldersgate UMC since 2007.
Most of all he loved his family and friends and above all his Lord. He will truly be missed by all.
Services will be held Sunday, April 12th at 1:00 PM at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Aldersgate UMC.
