Patricia Ann Woods, age 72, of Nixa, passed away in her home, following a courageous battle with cancer, Thursday, June 20, 2013. She was born July 29, 1940 in Auburn, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas and Nellie (Moran) Slusser. She and Jerry Woods were united in marriage on November 5, 1966 in Topeka, Kansas. At an early age Patricia learned to grow and can vegetables while living on the farm. Gardening continued to be a passion for her and she loved to be outdoors. Always ready for a challenge, Patricia enjoyed motorcycling, bowling, golfing and traveling whenever she could. Patricia was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Nixa. She enjoyed the ladies quilting group "Loving Stitches"� donating their talents in the form of quilts to The Kitchen in Springfield. Survivors include: Her husband, Jerry; daughters, Lori Woods, and Stacy Ecker and husband Mike; son, Jerry Woods, Jr.; three grandchildren, James, Matthew and Sheriden; brothers and sisters, Tommy Slusser, Margaret Myers, Galen Slusser, Paul Slusser, Louis Slusser, and Carol Peters. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Hubert Slusser, Mary Storman, Francis Carlson, and Rita Kay Slusser. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 26, in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Nixa, with Father Mark Boyer officiating. Burial will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. A rosary service will be at 6:30 PM Tuesday followed by visitation until 8:00 PM at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Nixa. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compassus, St. Francis of Assisi Church, or the American Cancer Society.
