Patience (Patti) Gwen Chapman, 66, of Ozark passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at her home.
Patience was born on August 24, 1955 in Waitsfield, VT; the daughter of Robert and Leona (Barton) Moulton. On December 7th, 1974 she married William Chapman in Burlington, VT. Soon after marriage Patti and husband Bill moved to Colorado where they became avid backcountry hikers, spending every weekend in the mountains even after the birth of their three children. When music took hold in the family, Patti took up the upright bass forming the family bluegrass band The Chapmans. She toured on the road with the family for 10+ years before handing off the bass to youngest son Jason.
To help support the family, she took on a full time job at Prime Trucking in Springfield, MO where she made many friends and acquaintances working at the fuel desk earning an award for 25 years at the company. She loved to spend her free time with her 11 grandchildren, teaching the oldest grand-daughters how to sew, making quilts for her grandchildren. She loved to work, even clocking in from home every day she was able during her two years of intensive chemotherapy.
She is survived by her husband, Bill; three sons, John Chapman of Nixa, Jeremy Chapman of Nixa, and Jason Chapman of Clever, her three daughters-in-law Vickie Chapman, Shaylon Chapman, and Kimberly Chapman, and her nine grandchildren, Kylie, Ellie, Everett, Hadley, Grayson, Avery, Eli, Lucas, Benjamin, and two foster grandchildren, as well as her Father Robert Moulton, Brother George Moulton, and sister Evelyn.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Leona.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a Celebration of Life is planned for December 17th at 6:00 PM, at The Oasis Hotel in Springfield, MO where we invite all friends and family to celebrate our time with Patti. Musicians are invited to bring instruments for impromptu jamming. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to Patti’s favorite charity, The Children’s Miracle Network at www.fundrazr.com/chapmanscmn where all funds will go to Springfield, MO’s CMN. Arrangements are under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ozark."
